Tåkern Lake and Naturum Tåkern to Örebro

0625 next day and we are awake, our milk has curdled so we have to pour our coffee off the curds, not a good start to the day. We pull on clothes and head for Tåkern Lake and Naturum Tåkern climbing to a high viewing platform via the wheelchair ramp. There are lots of birds about, various warblers that we can’t identify because of the fleeting glimpses that we have. A highlight is spotting bearded reedlings, not easy at the best of times. We started to walk through some woodlands, but were attacked by large flying insects that would not leave us, so we hastily fled back to the safety of the Hymer.

Breakfast, then packed up and on our way by about 1030. We stopped at another bird tower, which was excellent, views of distant cranes and other birds.

Göta canal was our next stop, interesting as a canal can be. The drive was through wheat fields which were massive. We didn’t think of Sweden as a wheat producer before visiting. Our intended stop was Berg, but we missed a turning and somehow ended up at Orebro, a long way off course. The temperature was now 34°C, so we decided to stay put, neither of us felt like moving on again. We found the aire, but it was not exactly friendly, rather a rough car parking area where a group of people were cooking over open fires.

My legs were very sore from insect bites this morning, I will be more careful in future and wear long trousers in country areas. Those bites took a long time to heal and were very uncomfortable at night.
