We are Gill and Alan, the wandering wine-tasters. We spend a lot of time travelling around in our Hymer motorhome. When we are in europe we like to visit wine producers to sample their wines and bring back as much as possible.

It’s 10 years since the UK voted to leave the EU, so instead of unlimited quantities of wine we can only bring back the duty-free allowance — not really a problem because the duty-free allowance is reasonable, at the time of writing each person can bring back 18 litres of still wine, that’s 24 normal 75 cl bottles, plus 9 litres of sparkling wine or fortified wine.

When you look add that up for 2 people it comes to 48 bottles of still wine plus 24 bottles of sparkling, making 72 bottles in all. For many motorhomes that’s going to be a problem; you need space and your vehicle needs to be capable of transporting that weight.
