The Alsace, Lake Annecy and The Lateral Canal of the Loire; June 2023
From Calais across Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, along the Alsace Wine Route on to Lake Annecy returning via the Loire canal.

This trek began with a weekend American Square dance campout in Colsterworth (separate report here), close to Isaac Newton’s birthplace at Woolsthorpe Manor, this made a convenient stop on our way to Folkstone to take Le Shuttle to Calais. The Hymer motorhome trek through France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany into France to The Alsace Wine Route then to Lake Annecy to join part of the family began here. Next to the Lateral Canal of the Loire then across France via Chartres back to Calais.
A month away, mostly staying on free aires, even the campsite costs are very modest prices when compared to motorhome stopovers in the UK.
2,134 miles driven in a total of 68 hours behind the steering wheel, average speed 31 miles per hour, fuel consumption 31 miles per gallon. Total diesel used 313 litres.
