Lallyriat to La Ravoire

Leaving Lac de Lilleyriat around 10.30am we take D1084 to Valserhône, then D1508 to Frangy where we call at Leclerc diesel at a low price so fill the tank! From here we head to Annecy and the supermarkets: first Intermarché who don’t accept motorhomes in their car park, there is a height barrier on the car park of Intermarché in Annecy which earns Intermarché a black mark from us; next to Aldi where the car park is so small we can’t even get in, another black mark, thirdly to Grand Frais where we do manage to park but they do not have the items that we want to buy.

Frustrated by narrow, crowded streets and nowhere to park we decide to head back to Auchan at Epagny where we park up on a large car park and manage to buy a good range of groceries for our stay at the campsite. The message is clear, if you are travelling in a motorhome do not go shopping in Annecy, buy what you need before you arrive.

Finally, still without lunch, at around 3.00pm we drive the 40 minutes from the north end of the lake to La Raviore at the south end of Lake Annecy, arriving around 4.00pm, hot and very tired. We check-in without difficulty and find pitch 87… Ivy and Lydia are waiting for us like the reception party!

Alan goes into reception to be greeted in English with a London accent before he opens his mouth to speak French. He asks ‘How did you know I am English before I spoke?’ ‘I could see your vehicle registration as you arrived’ was the reply.

Delighted we park up and have a grand reunion with part of the family! We find Nick & Sarah with their 3 children at Eurocamp chalet 9, relax, open wine and catch up. Later we have BBQ burger, sausage and chicken and sit on the terrace above the pool until bedtime.
