Overdinkel to Bremen

Overdinkel to Bremen

We have a schedule to cross the Netherlands and Germany to catch another ferry across to Sweden, so there can be no sightseeing, we have to make progress towards Lübeck where we catch our next ferry. The whole motorhome trek seems like a dream, we have been planning and researching for a long time it’s hard to believe that we are here and the trip is in progress.

We pay our fees, then service the Hymer before setting off, this is such an excellent campsite we are reluctant to leave, but progress towards Lübeck must be made. Our lunch stop was not a good choice, on the map it looked good, a small road in a forested area. The truth is that it was a truckers toilet stop – see photos below. There was a continuous stream of huge trucks and cars stopping, the driver would walk a short distance into the trees and relieve themselves. The ground was littered with various ‘debris’, not a pleasant place, but that’s what you get if you don’t provide proper toilet facilities.

We drove on to Bremen, stopping overnight at Resmobil Stellplatz, Kuhhirtenweg, €15 for the pitch for the night, everything else including toilets is pay as you go. (No pun intended). There are 100 pitches here, and the site is heavily used. You are closer to your neighbour than in the UK; we are here for the night so it’s not important to us. No grass for sitting out, just a dirt area.

Explored the old town but ran back when a ferocious storm blew in and soaked us. Sat and watched the lightning and rain then to bed.
