Another truly memorable journey through France in our Hymer motorhome; eating wonderful food and drinking great wines and crémants staying on aires, campsites and occasional car parks.

1,657 miles driven in a total of 47 hours behind the steering wheel, average speed 35 miles per hour, fuel consumption just over 34 miles per gallon. Total diesel used 220 litres.

Summary of wine tasting motorhome tour of Northern France including the Alsace.

Our intention was to drive through France into Spain because the weather in Spain in September is more suitable for us Brits. However, September 2023 was extremely hot in Spain and France so we decided to stay in France. That meant another trip over to the Alsace Wine  Route instead of Priorat and Rioja – what a hardship all those wonderful Alsace wines and crémants to sample and purchase. A very enjoyable trek around France even though the weather was becoming very cold towards the end of our journey.

As usual we stayed on many aires de camping cars, but we did spend time on campsites, staying longer than usual.
