Roman and Moorish Sites in Spain by Hymer Motorhome

This motorhome trek has been in the planning stage for some months, because other people are involved; we are meeting friends from Canada in the south of Spain, so there has been a lot of communication and discussion. We will be staying in a holiday villa for 5 nights, this particular villa was selected because of its proximity to Granada, site of the Alhambra, and other tourist sites. We also had the unusual requirement of a space outside or close to the villa on which we could park our motorhome, 6.5 metres long, and 2.35 metres wide, so a ‘normal’ parking space is not suitable. Fortunately Google maps allows us to look at locations in detail on the satellite views and Open Street Map also shows great detail about places, using these we could select our villa with confidence.
As usual the Hymer has been packed the day before travel, so after breakfast there is only the last-minute additions to load and then we can turn the water off, check the window locks and other security measures and then get on the road.
We leave home and drive south via M6 to Birmingham, M42/M40 via Oxford and A34 via Winchester and Southampton to Lymington in Hampshire and stay overnight in the camper on the drive of my former colleague. We enjoy a bottle or two of wine with chilli and rice and the evening seems to pass very quickly.
During the night, a wicked storm passes over the south coast, very high winds and lashing rain. We lie in bed and feel the wind rocking Hymer and the rain splattering on the roof. I think about crossing the Bay of Biscay tomorrow and don’t think this crossing will be like a mill pond.
