Motorhome Journey Oye Plage to Lancaster UK

Oye Plage is a convenient overnight stop, free, quiet and has the added attraction of birdwatching. We leave Oye Plage and drive the short distance (26 miles) to Calais and our crossing via Eurotunnel. It is not busy so we are straight onto the train (which is not full). Arriving at Folkestone before we set off because of the time difference, and being in the front carriage we are soon away. Onto a busy M20 we stop at Folkestone services for some lunch. This has had a ‘makeover’ since we were last here. They have sorted out the parking, making a dedicated area for ‘motorhomes and vans’ (not caravans I am pleased to see) but that was still occupied by cars, and the service building has been overhauled with some good seating for laptop/tablet users with USB/USC ports.

After lunch and a good break back on M20 to M25 and the anticlockwise route via Dartford tunnel (all painlessly pay on line). Taking M11 we skirt around Cambridge then take the A14 north towards Rugby, the M6 around Birmingham (with NO delays) and north to Lancaster. We arrive home and unload everything from Hymer (while we have the energy). Mr C. services the toilet cassette and empties the grey water, I put everything in order, ready for storing until the next trip.
