Oelde, Germany to Wohnmobil Stellplatz Potts BRAUEREI

There’s not a lot to say about today really, it was a day of driving across Germany on a timetable to get back to the UK for an event that we were committed to – let that be a lesson to us and other motorhome travellers, don’t commit to something if you are going away for an extended period. Like us you may have to push yourselves to get back

We are away from Eurocamp at Oelde, by 9.00 am, we have almost 500km to cover today if we can. We leave through the village of Spreewalder, with its tree-lined roads and storks roosting on lamp posts! We take H179 and then H.13 towards Berlin, these might be rural roads but at least they are not full of potholes and are reasonably straight. Even the bends are ‘curves’ rather than right-angled elbows like they were in Poland.

We turn west on H.10 towards Potsdam and then at Lehniner Wald onto H.2, a major motorway through Germany. Despite three lots of major road works and a bad crash we make good progress along H.2: Potsdam to Madgeburg 125km, Magdeburg to Hanover 150km and Hanover to Oelde another 150km. Our only relief from driving was a quick stop to fill up with diesel at €1.049 per litre and a shopping trip to a Familia supermarket where we spent €145 on wine and edible delicacies.

We turn off H.2 at Oelde and find Potts Brewery about 2km from the motorway, it is 7.30pm and we are ready to stop. We ask at the Brewery as we cannot find where the motor home park is, they direct us to a large piece of flat parking land at the back of the brewery (probably for the trucks). We are the only people there. We can eat and use the toilets at the Brewery restaurant, but we are tired, so make a quick tea and just enjoy the rest.

It is an overcast evening, so we go to bed early and catch up on some rest and sleep.
