Around Karlstein, CZ
A lazy morning, the sun is up and shining again with the promise of another hot day. Mayday and a bank holiday in Czechia, on the back of April 30th witchcraft celebrations.
The campsite is packed, more arriving all the time. We walk the one Km to the village of Karlštejn where there are many shops, restaurants and gift shops lining a VERY steep hill up to the castle. We enjoy meandering down there and looking in each and have a superb view of Karlštejn Castle when we get to the end. Later, after walking back we have a late lunch.
A group of six motorhomes come and ask us if we will move one place over so that they can group together in a U-shape. We oblige; we no longer have a river view but there are plenty of benches if we want to sit there. We have a lazy and relaxing afternoon in the sunshine, 24°C today. In the community meeting place on the campsite, the ice cream kiosk is set up as a bar, the tables and chairs are packed with families eating and drinking beer and about 8 or 10 musicians are leading the community singing. The tent field is a car park and is also packed. What fun!
We sit in the shade by Hymer reading, listening to the singing and watching our fellow campers, it is 24°C and quite hot in the sun. Across the river the trains rattle by every 20 minutes at a suitable distance to be a pleasant distraction every so often. The afternoon passes and we open wine and sit in the late afternoon sunshine, more hot air balloons drifting overhead… this is the life. The evening is warm so we have the last of the Jammon salad for tea.
