Besalu to Camping Montagut

Besalu to Camping Montagut

The day is warm again so we are up early and walk across the old Roman bridge and wander around Besalú taking photographs. There are lots of tourists and our son reminds us in a message that it was near here that he and his wife holidayed last August. We remember seeing their photos of the old bridge.

We get back to the camper and dogs are still barking!

We have lunch and get on our way on A26 and N206 to Montagut and a camp site in the mountains. It is just what we need, a couple of nights of peace and quiet, no driving and a catch up of rest and writing. We park up on an empty space, good large pitches, especially as the place is barely half full. Then we move as a man with a rotavator is making a lot of noise next to our pitch. We find a big space under the trees, get the mat, table and chairs out and wander around the site.

I go for a swim in the pool which is not heated and a perfect temperature for the hot afternoon. I swim for about 20 minutes until I am cool but not cold. Mr C. has a shower and notes he has many bites on his legs. Back on our pitch we eat the rest of the prawns with a Riesling from Germany and cook sausage and tomatoes for tea. There is an extremely noisy Italian family (about 15 of them) near the pool but too far away from us, and a Spanish family behind us who are similarly noisy. They all just seem to shout all the time… The evening darkens to dusk, and it clouds over a little making a pleasantly cool time to sit out.

We enjoy the evening and sleep soundly all night!
