Here in Dommartin les Remiremont the day is already warm by the time we have our breakfast at 9.00am, we sit outside, what a super site to stay, clean, relaxing and quiet (unless you are bothered by the church bells chiming the hour twice).

We plan our route for today and the weekend to the Moselle valley. It looks like the Moselle forms the border between Germany and Luxemburg, then further north into Germany is the best part. We decide to drive some miles today, making towards Metz and the Luxemburg border.

From Dommartin les Remiremont we take the D23 back to the D417 at Remiremont and then onto the N66/H57 for the 100km drive to Nancy. The N31 ring-road around Nancy is like a racetrack with many trucks and lorries knowing exactly where they are going. We miss our turning and end up in the forest which is much preferable to the N31! Back on the road we find our road, which is still the A31 but towards Metz and Luxemburg. Before Metz we join the A313 towards Pont du Mousson, our next planned destination. We find the Aire right on the river bank and it is already almost full, we are about number 56 (out of 60) to arrive!

We drive straight into a spot that overlooks the river between a group from the Netherlands and a group from France. All is good, Mr C. hooks up to the electricity and I put the chairs and tables on the riverbank under the trees. There are two swans with a cygnet and I wonder if they will object, but they waddle off to the river and seem to be fine. This is a much different experience to the past few nights, we arrive just after 3.00pm and within half an hour the remaining three spaces are taken and the barrier is closed.

It is Saturday afternoon and busy with lots of people sitting in the shade on the river bank (it is now about 32°C) reading, chatting or just watching the river go by. We join them. The river is very restful with rowing eights and the swans, the Pont de Mousson crosses the river not far away and I watch the constant flow of traffic, never stopping and never ending.

After tea, we sit in the not-so-cool of the evening until it goes dark. The swan and her signet come back to the river bank, she does not like me being there and hisses, I just stare back (ready to move if I need to), she takes her cygnet to the reeds and we leave each other alone! When we go to bed it is still very hot and even with just a sheet it is hard to sleep, eventually we do.
