A cooler start to the day here at Couges les Pins in Provence, around 11°C, still warmer than when we arrived in France. We had a leisurely breakfast then looked at maps before deciding to go for a walk in the hills. Set off with binoculars and plenty of warm clothes but had to peel off layers as we climbed the steep track upwards. Much steeper than we expected. Good views as we climbed, the path surrounded by rosemary bushes, sage and thyme all growing wild. We found a small snake crossing the trail as we climbed. After a long climb we checked our progress and decided that there was not sufficient time to complete the circular route back to the aire, so we turned back.

Near the aire people were still playing boule on the boule courts, we continued past them into the town and Spar supermarket on the town square. This supermarket had a very good selection of wine, Gill had been reading about Provence, which produces a lot of rose wines. Normally rose is not our choice, but we decided that we should sample the different roses on offer.

Across the road was a farm where the farmer produces his own wine, unfortunately the shop was not open so we walked back to the aire and sat in the sunshine. We paid for another 24 hours on the aire, which now has 16 motorhomes on it. After our evening meal we sat out until the sun went down, then as the temperature fell quickly we retired to the Hymer and planned our next stops.
